Hair Archives: Chunky Twists Using ATON Natty Butter

This review is going to be a little different. I will first tell you all how I used it, then rate the product overall. I won the Natty Butter in a Facebook giveaway about 2/3 weeks ago so I was super excited to try it! I used it twice, once on clean hair and once on an old braid out.

The first night, I used it to twist freshly washed hair with Just a little leave-in conditioner underneath. I will let the pictures of my hair speak for themselves:

My Hair in Twists

Twist Out

Oh my goodness you guys… I rocked the HECK out of this twist out! The curl definition was amazing!

So for the second day (three days later) I did another chunky twist out where I just rewet my hair with water and used the Natty Butter to twist. Once again I will let the pictures speak for me:

The picture on the left is when i wet my hair and applied the Natty Butter, and the picture on the right are my chunky twists. I did these larger than I did the previous time I tried it.

Now for the review:

Price: Varies per size, 4oz is $10.99, 8oz is $18.99, 12oz is $24.99 and 16oz is $34.50

Where to buy: Living a Natty Lifestyle

Product Description: (according to the Living a Natty Lifestyle website) Natty Butter is a great butter for sealing/locking in moisture for natural or relaxed hair, straightened, wavy, kinky, or curly hair. And for ALL skin types for overall body moisturizing.
Ingredients: *Unrefined Shea Butter, Avocado Butter, Argan Oil, *Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Castor Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Evening Primrose, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Essential Oil Blend, Special Blend of Ayurvedic Herbs, Natural Fragrance

Directions: This product comes with a full instruction card but according to the Living a Natty Lifestyle website you can:
  • Apply (dime sized amount) to wet or damp hair to seal in moisture. Style as usual
  • For two strand twists, braids, twist outs or braid outs, apply dime sized amount to each wet or damp section.
  • As an overall massage butter.
  • As a heat protectant for straight styles. Apply dime sized amount to each section before applying heat.
  • As a skin soother for eczema
  • As a soothing body butter. Best if applied while skin is damp.
  • To soften rough dry areas (elbows, knees and feet)
My Review& Final Comments: I LOVE this product on my twist outs, it gives my hair great definition and lasts pretty much all day. It smells amazing, I tried the warm black coconut scent, and it has a hint of peppermint and coconut in it. This product is very light and has a whipped texture to it, so it was not too heavy on my hair and did not leave my hair super shiny and greasy, yet my hair was not dry. Would I purchase this product? Yes. I would pinch my pennies together (since I am on a budget and in college) and save up for this product. It is that good!
