DIY Honey and Coconut Oil PrePoo

Have you been wearing awesome twist outs, beautiful braid outs, and your fabulous curls and kinks throughout the past few months? Styling, heat, and weather take a toll on our tresses. A prepoo protects your hair while using shampoos, helps to maintain moisture in your hair after rinsing it out, nourishes your hair and scalp, and aids with detangling. Today I tried a coconut oil and honey hair prepoo, which is perfect for repairing and moisturizing natural hair.

Ingredients

This recipe includes organic extra virgin coconut oil and organic raw honey.

Benefits of honey for natural hair:

Honey is an emollient which means it is a natural hair softener.
It is a natural antioxidant, so it improves scalp health and stimulates hair growth.
Honey is a humectant, meaning it prevent the loss of moisture from your hair and scalp.
Honey helps hair retain moisture and strengthens hair follicles.

Benefits of coconut oil for natural hair:

Coconut oil helps to reduce protein loss in hair strands and it is one of the only oils that penetrates inside the hair shaft.
Retains moisture and prevents breakage
Is a great conditioner that keeps hair soft and shiny.
The fatty acids in coconut oil are said to help get rid of dandruff and scalp dryness.
Helps minimize split ends by lubricating your ends to prevent knots and tangles.

What You'll need

2 tbsp. of Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
1 tbsp. of Organic Raw Honey
Shower Cap
Mixing Bowl & spoon
Towel for cleanup

Applying the Prepoo

Microwave for 15 seconds or or heat up your prepoo mixture just a bit. The prepoo can be applied to dry or wet hair, but I prefer wet hair. Section your hair into four sections and apply the mixture from root to tip. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour.

While you wait for the mixture to work its magic, you can paint your nails, read a book, check out my blog, or get caught up on the latest videos on YouTube.

Rinse the prepoo out with warm water then shampoo and condition as normal.

I hope you found this to be helpful!
