2017 Music Festivals & Summer Events That You NEED to Attend

Saying this summer is going to be 🔥 is an understatement!

Music festival, concert and summer event season is finally almost here so I figured I should compile a list of the awesome events that I plan to go to. If you're in the NYC area I hope to see you at some of them!

May

Broccoli City Festival - May 6th, Washington, D.C.

A post shared by Broccoli City (@broccolicity) on
I've never been to the Broccoli City Festival before, but with that lineup I had to jump and buy tickets! I haven't yet found a friend to go with me so I'll be heading down to DC solo. Let me know if you'll be there!

Future: Nobody Safe Tour - May 19th, Brooklyn, NY

A post shared by Future Hendrix (@future) on
Future has a bunch of really catchy songs plus I'm really excited to see Migos, ASAP Ferg, and Tory Lanez.

The Festival of Colors - May 20th, Bronx, NY

Holi Phagwa is the Hindu festival of colors - it celebrates the coming of spring, fruitful harvests, unity, and joy. It is traditional to celebrate by throwing vibrantly colored powder (Holi Gulal) at one another. I went to the Festival of Colors in Brooklyn last year and had a ball so I had to go again.

June

Governors Ball - June 2nd-4th New York, NY

I'll be there for day one & I'm excited to see Chance the Rapper again. I'll be heading to Philly the next day for the Roots Picnic.

The Roots Picnic - June 3rd, Philadelphia, PA

A post shared by Roots Picnic (@rootspicnic) on
The lineup for this year's Roots Picnic is amazing! I went to the Roots Picnic for the past two years and it hasn't disappointed me yet. Get a cheap Airbnb rental and turn it into a weekend trip for you and your crew (like I plan to!).

Hot 97 Summer Jam - June 11th, East Rutherford, NJ

A post shared by HOT 97 (@hot97) on
Yet another amazing lineup full of some of my favorite artists so I couldn't resist. This will be my first Summer Jam experience so I'm hoping for a good one.

July

The Greatest Day Ever! - July 15th & 16th, Bronx, NY

A post shared by Brunch Bounce (@brunchbounce) on
I've heard nothing but great things about the Greatest Day Ever! so I'm really excited to go for the first time this year. Brunch Bounce really knows how to throw a great party so if you haven't already follow them and check out their regularly scheduled events.

Curlfest - July 15th, Brooklyn, NY

The ladies of Curly Girl Collective really know how to throw an amazing party. There's always a live DJ, vendors, talks, and naturalistas galore at Curlfest so you surely don't want to miss out.

Kendrick Lamar: The Damn Tour - July 20th, Brooklyn, NY

Kendrick's new album was amazing & I'm excited to see him perform live for the first time. After 30 anguish filled minutes of refreshing the TicketMaster app, I finally snagged tickets to his Brooklyn show!

Panorama Music Festival - July 28th-30th New York, NY

A post shared by Panorama NYC (@panoramanyc) on
I'm so excited to see Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, and Solange! This festival is pretty new (this year will be its second year) but it had a lot of buzz after last year so I can't wait to go.

August

J. Cole: 4 Your Eyes Only Tour - August 1st, Brooklyn, NY

Afropunk Festival - August 26th & 17th, Brooklyn, NY

A post shared by AFROPUNK (@afropunk) on
I've been going to Afropunk for the past few years and while things have changed a lot, I think it's still worth it to go. The fashion, the vendors, the networking opportunities (I've met some amazing people at Afropunk!) and the carefree vibes can't be beat.

September

Budweiser Made In America Festival - September 2nd & 3rd, Philadelphia, PA

YOU GUYS!!! The lineup was just announced as I was typing this so I am so excited, I am literally shaking! I have been waiting to see Jay-Z perform live forever! Add Solange, J. Cole, Migos, Wizkid, A Boogie, and DJ Mustard to the mix and you have a party!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and are considering heading to one of the events.

Did I miss anything? What festivals or concerts are you looking forward to? Comment below to let me know!

  1. This is awesome, I love how you compiled a list of concerts and events! But why does everything cool take place in NY!?! I’m so jealous! I wish LA had a curl fest and the festival of colors! I also want to go to The Governors Ball. That lineup is amazing! Chance, Lorde, Flume, Gambino and so many others T_T And I had no idea MGMT was still making music, now I have to go see what they’ve been up to lol

  3. Great idea for a blog post. It's a shame I live in the UK or I'd have tried to check some of these out but I know it can be difficult to find good festival lists so this was a good post.
